10 Techniques to aid your detox process

Today is the last blog post of the month, and this means this is the last post on detox information. So I want to leave you with a few ideas on things you can do during a detox (regardless of which type of detox you are going to do):
  • Start every morning with a glass of

warm lemon water used to stimulate digestion for the day and clear the body of any toxins that may have settled in the digestive tract overnight. Then drink chilled lemon water throughout the day.
  • Soups are especially soothing during a detox. You can get a well-balanced meal by adding healthy fats, complex carbs, nuts and seeds, and herbs
  • Drink green smoothies every day (mostly made veggies an one apple and lemon juice for sweetness or to improve the flavor). Smoothies are packed with nutrition and can make a great meal. Plus you can hide all kinds of healthy additions in a smoothie.
  • Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.
  • Cleanse and protect the liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, burdock, and milk thistle, and drinking green tea. Click here to check out my cleansing supplement
  • Take vitamin C (at least 1,000mg), which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.
  • Drink at least two quarts of water a day, made easy by bringing our 32 oz. Stainless Steel or Glass Wide Mouth Water Bottle with you everywhere you go!
  • Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system. A breathing exercise that I love to do is the heart coherence technique. It is super easy and fast to do.   • Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate waste through perspiration.
  • Dry-brush your skin or try detox foot spas/foot baths to remove toxins through your pores. Special brushes are available at natural products stores
Once you’ve completed your selected detox, you don’t want to add back in all the foods you’ve removed immediately. This is especially important if you choose a fast or juice detox. You'll want to incorporate solid food starting with easy to digest options gradually.
You may be feeling so great after your detox you that don’t even want to add certain foods back. If however, you decide you want to add meat back in, choose healthy proteins, and reintroduce them to your system gradually.
If you’ve removed several foods, wait several days between reintroducing each different item. For example, if you removed gluten, meat, and dairy, pick one item to add back to your diet then wait three days before adding the next food. This will help prevent your system from becoming overwhelmed.
