5 Tips for Cleansing this Spring

4/4/2021

As you may already know, much of my work is based on Eastern principles, primarily on Japanese and traditional Chinese medicine. In these traditions, we pay careful attention to the principles of Living and eating with the Seasons to bring balance to our bodies. In these traditions, springtime is known as the

Wood Element, and corresponding organs are the liver and gallbladder. The liver is associated with new growth and upward, expansive energy, just like spring. So this is an ideal time to support your liver. It is a time of new growth and seeing nature’s energy rising. Spring is the perfect time to cleanse, not only your house but also your body.
So here are, 5 Tips for Spring Cleansing
  1. Exercise – Be active throughout the day, walk the stairs, stretch at the office desk, go outside during lunch hour, or bike to work. Try focusing your yoga practice on stretching the liver and gallbladder meridians.
  2. Eat – Eat a cleaner, lighter diet. Detoxify by drinking cilantro juice and removing or limiting alcohol and coffee. Try drinking filtered water, kukicha, or green sencha tea.
  3. Chew your food slowly – Chewing well is of paramount importance. I cannot stress this enough. Many digestive problems disappear when people slow down and take time to chew their food.
  4. Drink plenty of fluids – When you arise in the morning, it is essential to ‘hydrate your cells’ with water. Our cells need to hydrate when we awaken to start a new day.
  5. Spend time outdoors, especially around trees and upward-growing plants.
There you have it, five super simple tips that may make a significant impact on your health this spring. I will be expanding on each of these tips this month on this newsletter, so stay tuned!
Remember, I’m always here to help. If you have any questions on these tips, email me at ContactToni@drToniCamacho.com and click here to listen to this week’s podcast on the topic of Demystifying detox
Have a great week
