Actively Cultivate Feelings of Gratefulness

7/3/2022

I want to apologize for missing last week's email. I have been engrossed in writing a new book, I got so caught up finishing up that I totally forgot to send the week's email. but now I'm back on track and let's continue chatting about our current topic "happiness."
Do you know what is one of the best ways to get happier? Gratitude!

Appreciation for what’s good about your life rather than focusing on what you don’t have or what other people have and you want is a surefire way to live happier. Don’t take my word for it. This study confirms it: https://bit.ly/37NZxZr
Spending just a few minutes each day to reflect on the things you are grateful for can have a significant impact over time. Sit down daily and think through five to ten things you are thankful for. To rewire your brain, and start feeling happier, picture what you are grateful for, and feel it in your body. The key here is to really feel it, rattling what you are grateful for without any feeling is pointless. So to truly experience change, feel the gratefulness. For me, it helps sometimes to ask the question, why am I grateful for ___________? Asking why helps your brain get out of the way and invoke feelings easier.
Also, don't save expressing your gratitude for others for special 'occasions.' The habit of being grateful starts with appreciating every good thing in life.
Try writing a gratitude journal. Not only will the act of writing down what you are grateful for help to strengthen your feelings, but your journal will also act as a reminder on days you're feeling down.
Remember, gratitude is not only about being thankful for positive experiences. Thinking about negative or stressful situations can help you hone in on what you have to be grateful for.
I'm always here to help, email me your questions at Toni@drToniCamacho.com. oh and if you are wondering what my new book is all about, well I'm happy to share with you is about healthy aging and is a two-in-one book. Is a guide to healthy aging as well as a cookbook with over 200 recipes! The name is Eat Well, Move Well, Think Well, Age Well - 10 steps to health and longevity beyond your 40's. I'm really excited about it, I think you are going to love it. I will keep you posted when it comes out. Right now I'm working on adding all the photos for the recipes, which is super time-consuming (but the writing is all complete now).
Got to run! See you next week
Toni
