Foods to Help Relieve Your Allergy Symptoms (and recipes)

3/2/2020

Today we are welcoming march and the soon to come allergy season. I'm already starting to feel it, so it is the perfect time to start building up our immune system and change our lifestyle to one that can help support us throughout the season. I'm already starting to rinse my nose with saline water and started taking an herbal formula that I designed. It works wonders to relieve the symptoms and if I take it early enough in the season, I do not even display any symptoms during the season. I love it!
Anyways, as I said earlier, right now is the perfect time to start making adjustments to our lifestyle to promote a healthier allergy season and one of the key lifestyle changes for this is diet. So today I want to share a list of

anti-allergic foods that can help you relieve allergy symptoms:
  • Whole grains (make sure they are soaked overnight and then rinsed before cooking them)
  • Dark leafy vegetables and egg yolks are high in vitamin E.
  • Cold-pressed flax oil or Evening Primrose oil also contains high levels of vitamin E. Drizzle 1 tbsp. on your salad every day.
  • Oily fish such as cod, herring, mackerel, salmon, menhaden and sardines provide the Omega-3 fatty acid called eicosapentaenoic acid or EPA (buy wild not farmed).
  • Spirulina (an alga often used in “green drinks”) also contains eicosapentaenoic acid.
  • Pineapple contains the anti-inflammatory enzyme bromelain.
  • Papaya contains the anti-inflammatory enzyme papain.
  • Turmeric (a rich spice often used in Indian and Far Eastern dishes) contains the antiinflammatory bioflavonoid quercetin.
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with some recipes to get you started. Here are a few:
Breakfast:
  • Quinoa Muesli w/ Coconut Milk
  • Cinnamon Almond Baked Oatmeal
  • Cranberry Banana Bread:
  • Honey-Glazed Acorn Squash
Lunch:
  • Carrot Brussel Sprout Salad
  • Roasted Eggplant Toast
  • Creamy Zucchini Soup
  • Sweet Potato Quinoa Bowl
Dinner:
  • Sweet Potato and Kale Soup
  • Sorghum Chickpea Bowl
  • Baked Spaghetti Squash Platter
  • Roasted Cauliflower w/ Tahini Sauce
There you have it, I hope this gets you started on your way to a happy allergy season. Remember, I'm always here to help. If you have any questions on allergy-friendly foods, email me at: Toni@drToniCamacho.com and Click here to check out my herbal seasonal allergy formula.
See you next week,
