Start Your Day off Right

8/20/2022

Wow, can you believe we are almost done with August? I sure can't; I feel like the month just started. Regardless of is going fast for you or not, I hope you are enjoying the summer.
Today's topic is morning mindfulness; I choose this topic because how we begin

our morning can set the tone for the entire day. Here are some techniques to incorporate into your morning routine to promote mindfulness.
Try waking up a little earlier. A few extra minutes can allow you to enjoy your morning rather than rush around getting ready. Before jumping out of bed, take a moment to immerse yourself in feelings of gratitude and list three things you’re thankful for (you can simply list them in your head!). Also, remember that thinking about why you are grateful for those things increases the sense of gratitude.
Next, take a few moments to focus on your breathing. Just five to ten minutes a day of focusing on your breath can tremendously reduce stress and promote relaxation. Try taking deep inhales and exhales - many of us tend to take short, shallow breaths, especially when stressed or anxious.
If you don’t already make your bed in the morning, start. It sets the tone for accomplishing tasks throughout the rest of your day. If showering is part of your morning ritual, rather than washing on autopilot, take the time to practice mindfulness. Treat yourself to a few extra seconds of a scalp massage as you shampoo your hair, and apply your moisturizer with gentle care instead of just slathering it on.
Finally, as you sit down for your morning coffee, tea, or breakfast, rather than overwhelming yourself with information, like checking your email or turning on the television, choose to read or listen to an uplifting, inspiring, or positive article, book, or quote instead.
I guarantee after a few days, this ritual will become more natural, and you will soon find yourself completing other tasks with the same mindful intention.
Give it a try and tell me what you think! What sounds most exciting or intriguing to you?
Remember, I'm always here to help; email me your questions at ContactToni@drToniCamacho.com. Also, check out my new book Eat well, Move well, think well, age well. It is a great book, full of information on what it takes to age well, and the cookbook has over 250 delicious recipes.
I hope you have a wonderful week,
Toni
