The Best Ways to Cure Seasonal Allergy Symptoms

3/25/2019

Are seasonal allergies getting the best of you this spring? You’re not alone. Allergies can be overwhelming and your life super uncomfortable. Luckily, there are natural solutions that can provide substantial relief or eliminate all symptoms:
  • To reduce the onset of symptoms, minimize the time spent

outdoors and keep the windows rolled up while driving. Wash your clothes, including outerwear, regularly. Avoid placing items on the grass and leave your shoes outside.
  • Apple cider vinegar is an amazing natural allergy remedy, as it can help reduce mucus production and cleanse your lymphatic system. Take at least one tablespoon daily. You can drink it straight from the bottle if it is too strong, add a tablespoon to a cup of warm water with a small bit of honey. I love to add cayenne to it; it gives it a nice little kick

  • Moderate to intense activity for 30 minutes can produce substantial allergy relief. Studies have shown that this change occurs because exercise produces an anti-inflammatory effect in your nasal passages, helping to reduce allergy symptoms naturally. If you like to exercise outdoors, do it in the early morning or late afternoon when pollen counts are lower.

  • Saline Rinse or nasal sprays. This is one of my favorite methods to get rid of pollen stuck in my nasal passages. Your nasal passageways have nooks and crannies where dirt and pollen can easily get trapped. Unfortunately, until that foreign substance is pushed out, your body will most likely keep trying to flush it from your system. This can mean lots of mucous, a runny nose, coughing, sneezing, and watery eyes. Use a neti pot or any other saline rinse methods, to flush your nasal passages and help relieve your allergy symptoms. Also, homeopathic nasal sprays are a great alternative to the nasal rinse.

  • Probiotics. Allergy symptoms can be a result of your body’s immune system being out of balance. A weak immune system can cause you to have a more severe reaction to pollen, dust, and grass. Probiotics give your immune system a boost. A good source of probiotics are fermented foods, like kimchi and miso. Kombucha is also an excellent source of probiotics.

  • Water. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! The side effects of being dehydrated are extensive but being dehydrated can heighten any allergy symptoms you’re experiencing.

  • As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago in my blog, I have had tremendous success relieving allergy symptoms using Herbs such as nettles, back elderberries, goldenrod, ginkgo, eyebright, licorice root, lobelia, butterbur, and turmeric in my allergy formulas. To learn more about this herbs read my blog post by clicking here.

  • You can also minimize or allergy symptoms by avoiding foods that trigger a heightened allergy response such as alcohol, peanuts, sugar, processed foods, wheat, chocolate, and even coffee or foods that actually stop allergies symptoms. I spoke in detail about these foods in my last blog Click here to read about the food you should eat and avoid.

  • Get a full night sleep and keep your stress levels low. Research shows that high levels of chronic stress and sleep deprivation can hurt your immune system, which only contributes to worsening your seasonal symptoms.

Remember, It’s a lot easier to take preventative steps than overcome allergy symptoms once they’ve set in so start taking herbal supplements and change your diet 2 to 4 weeks before the allergy season starts.
I hope you found these points helpful. Until next week,
Toni
